Basketball Planter
Planter designed for 3D printing with a basketball inspired design

project overview
The Basketball Planter combines two cool things into one concept: basketball and plants. I originally designed the first version in 2021 for SLA (resin) 3D printing and later shared it on my Cults page, where it remains available today. After returning to FDM printing, I recreated the planter, optimizing it for FDM production while preserving the playful aesthetic.

How to build:
The Planter is split up in 3 different Versions. Version 1 is a single Object for the fastest print process. Version 2 is the Multicolor Version and Version 3 is the same but built as a hanging planter. Be sure to have some superglue when building the Multicolor Versions. For the hanging Planter you will need some Screws with a loop for attaching the rope. Apart from that you just need a 3D printer with some filament.
The base Size for the Models are 15cm in length and width and 12 cm in heigth. But you can easily upscale the model to your desired needs in the slicer.
Version 1 (single color)
Version 1 ist the single color version for the Basketball Planter. You won't have to do any assembly after the print with this Version. It is just one Object and print so you won't be able to customize it as easy as Version 2.
Version 2 (multi color)
This is the Multi Color version for the Basketball Planter. You can easily make a colorful Version without painting, straight from the Printer. The Ball has a Base Layer that needs to be printed first. Each Panel is then printed individually. Finally you can assemble the Ball by glueing the Panels to the Base Layer of the ball. Up to 9 different Filaments can be combined without AMS or Filament switching mid Print.
The Homegrown lettering is inspired by the iconic Spalding NBA basketballs from a few years ago. I wanted to bring that classic look into the planter design. The panel system also allows for a clean version without the engraved lettering, giving users the freedom to choose their preferred style.
